Start quickly due to friendly user-interface


SPI Ducting has a friendly user-interface. When the designer selects a function from the menu or from the icon bar, an input box with the main parameters of the corresponding shape or connection is displayed. These shapes include pipe, cone, elliptic pipe, elbow, y-pipe, t-pipe, circle-rectangle transition, y-connection and flanges.

The designer defines the dimensions through the online display function as well as pick existing edges to determine the size. Apart from the over all dimension the designer can fix the width of the welding gap.
   


Free access to Material management


Additionally, the designer can access the values of the integrated material management (used material, machine and thickness).

The values and formulas defined in the material management are taken into account during construction and development to check edges and profiles and calculate unfolded lengths. During the bending of sheet metal the material deforms in the way that the flat pattern development differs from the geometric unfolding. To calculate the appropriate specific shortening/reduction, the designer has the choice between three methods:

    DIN formula or ANSI formula
    user defined formula
    define discrete values in a shortening table

The chosen way for the calculation has to be defined by corresponding parameters in the SPI – Sheetmetal program. Formulas and tables are maintained in the material management.

As the parameters are set up, the program calculates referred shapes, transitions or connections as 3D solids.
The preview command helps the designer to modify a part in any parameter before final generation.
 
   

Automatic Dimensioning


An automatic dimensioning completes the drawing.

Exact Positioning


The  IntelliPlace function allows for the exact positioning of all elements and dramatically simplifies the placing of models on existing ones. Workplanes are automatically set according to the selected plane on the model. With this capability a designer can build complete 3D assemblies.
